Rome at Easter recently?

I've got a hotel booked across from the Vatican, flight, etc., and planning to go to Rome the week before and through Easter. A friend said I'm crazy! Am I? All reservations can be changed at this point, but I'm thinking since it was so easy to get a hotel Easter week, and difficult the following week -- maybe it won't be so bad. Anyone with recent (last few years)
Easter in Rome experience have comments?

The Vatican is going to be very busy that time of year but reserve tickets to the museum to avoid the lines and you'll be fine. Rome is always busy so don't worry about.

We were in Rome the week before Easter a couple of years back. We down to the Amalfi coast for Easter itself but stayed in room until Good Friday morning. We had no real issues at all. However, we did make advance reservations for many of the sites. These included the Borghese gallery and the Scavi tour. We listened to the Rick Steve advice and walked into the Vatican museum with no line at 3 pm. We didn't want to see everything so that was more than enough time. We focused on the Raphael paintings and the Sistine chapel. Advance planning is imperative to see everything in the time frames that are short.

We were in Rome during Holy Week last year and it wasn't too bad, but we also had ressies for the big things (Vatican Museums, Scavi, etc). As long as you have ressies for the big things (I'd include Easter dinner in that) you'll be fine. The Vatican will be the area that sees the biggest influx of visitors during that time.
