I am looking for recommendations for reputable apartment rental agencies in Rome. Everything posted here or on Trip Advisor is very old (5+ years). Looking for more recent favorable experiences.
Thanks.
I have used VRBO and Booking.com many times throughout Italy and always found up-to-date reviews. Have you tried those sources?
Yes but I'm looking for specific agencies that can help guide me and someone specific to talk to.
Thanks for your reply.
Look at Select Italy and Sleep in Italy.
Hadn't heard of Select Italy. I will check them out, thanks.
We’ve rented through Airbnb. You can enter various filters to narrow down your search.

We stayed at this hotel in 2010 and then in 2017 rented an apartment facing the piazza from them for a week. Good people to work with, very reasonably-priced. And...this apartment had daily maid service!
Nice Jay! Clicked through the gallery of lovely pictures. *
Bookmarked and will check it out for a future return. The hotel (part) rooms look very nice and very Italian.

Yes thank you for that recommendation. Looking into it now.
Girasole--
For our Rome visit in February 2017, I told the hotel people I wanted an apartment that faced the piazza, small because it was only the two of us, had to have at least a galley kitchen--with fridge, kitchen sink, etc.--and could be no higher than the 2nd floor, assuming (correctly) that there were no elevators.
They came back with a place that wasn't even on their website, a small & narrow but functional kinda studio deal but with a separate hallway and bathroom. Smallish but functional window allowed me to gaze out at the daily market, and after the vendors were gone for the day, it was a quasi-gathering place, as most Italian piazzas are.
And in the middle, the statue of Giordano Bruno, who was beheaded at that spot in 1600--that'll get you a statue every time! So they sent me pics via EMail, and I took a leap of faith (which you have to do so often when doing business with Europeans) and booked it, Pay Palling one night's stay as a deposit.
Served our needs perfectly, and it was 85 Euro/night. I couldn't believe what a find it was for the price. Now...for a month or two, I might lean towards a little bigger place, but if I was going to use this as a base and travel around Italy, I might not feel so bad about leaving it empty for a few nights at that price, you know?
Already planning that as a bucket list thing, 2 months basing in Rome but branching out here & there. I know some would prefer going place to place, but I'd like to have a place to call 'home', get to know some neighborhood shopkeepers. Not for everybody, but that's a big reason why I travel.
Windows On Italy is a very reliable agency. We used them for an apt. in Florence last year. Very reliable and responsive. They have properties in all major cities. I highly recommend them.
Jay, that was a great deal you got for an apartment! Perhaps the time of year played a part. Agree on the 'base' part. Take day trips or even an overnighter without breaking the bank with your studio.
Beautiful views. On TA, many, many very good reviews.
Since my return to Rome will most likely be in December, the rates may be lower at that time too. I won't need an apartment until I can plan to stay a month or so. A nice dream for now, lol. But good to secure options. Actually, since you mentioned studio (and for the price), it does seem a very good idea if one is to stay longer than a few days. *
Uh oh - shh...stepping out on the Rome hotel I came to stay at and "love" my previous trips. Well....I guess I will just have to spend one week at that hotel and one week at Boutique Campo de' Fiori. Seems like a simple solution. lol!

thank you...will look into Windows on Italy as well.
I used ITALY PERFECT for our Rome apartment. Great company to work with and they're based in US so an easy phone call if need be. Their rentals are on the upper end of the price/quality scale, but this is where we found the apartment that worked for us, so we splurged a little. They left a nice goodie basket with cookies, pasta, sauce, etc.
Thanks reached out to Italy Perfect and they have one option that could work for us.
