Rome apartment location advice

We're doing 3 nights in Rome in early July (last stop of our trip). We've narrowed it down to two apartments. One is north of Villa Borghese, and the other is just south-east of Villa Doria Pamphili (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=00152+Rome,+Italy&sll=43.792906,11.002808&sspn=0.483756,2.441711&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=00152+Rome,+Lazio,+Italy&ll=41.881192,12.464418&spn=0.015592,0.076303&z=14).

They're just about the same price. If we're planning to do the usual sites (Vatican City, ruins, Pantheon, etc, which would you think is a better spot? Do either of these areas offer something nicer than the other (local sites/shops around them?).

Thanks for any advise!
