I am looking for an apartment in Rome for a week in March which will accommodate four people comfortably, and I would appreciate any suggestions.
Perfect apartment perfectly located with perfect owners next door...what more could you want?

It would be hard to beat that location - just a little south of the midpoint between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Tim, do you have a connection with the owners? (You mention the neighbors.)
We stayed here in October (this is from previous posting):
My Italian cousin found us a place called Pensione Virginia. It is actually a 2BR, 2BA condo right by the Cornelia station and cost us 70€ a night. We had the BR with private bath and were alone for a few days. The place had another small BR and guest bath as well as LR and kitchen with dishwasher, clothes washer, oven, fridge. When the other couple came, they used sofa bed in LR so we no longer had use of that room but still had kitchen.
With restaurants, cheap food places and everything else along with little subway traffic in our direction, it was a great place to stay. And we walked to Cornelia bus station for a cheap <4€ ride to airport.
Michael, the only connection I have with the owners is that they lived next door during the time we rented their apartment. The link I posted above will get you straight to them instead of going through a middle-man rental agency. Although the agency from which we rented the apartment, www.sleepinitaly.com, did a perfect job for us.
We used VRBO.com for our Rome apt and were quite happy. ( We have used VRBO for Italy, Portugal, US, etc)
(VRBO # 13150; $100 US nite/, w/ balconies overlooking a river and a park, on two express bus lines to town, 1 block from the Nomentana train station, close to great resturants, groc stores, shops)
Check out ww.cross-pollinate.com It is a bed and breakfast and apartment booking service owned and operated by an American couple living in Rome. i have used them many times and they are the best!!!! Check them out, you won't be sorry!!!
Or try The-Beehive for the B&B/hostel type place two blocks from Roma Termini. They also have a "bunk" room. It is also owned by Cross-Pollinate. The serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in the basement of their B&B for a fee. They have a rickety computer you can use for free. 24 hour desk service.
