We are thinking of going to Rome, Naples and Capri either the last week of December or first week of Jan. Now, I do understand it is going to be cold there - but we are from Chicago - so I think we will manage. Just needed to know what people think of this time?
As you know, weather is impossible to predict. When I was there in December and January it was cold and wet!
All three places you mention are at sea level so the weather should be moderate. Be prepared for cold; take plenty of cold weather clothing.
We were in Rome the 1st week in January last year. Found it to be reasonably mild: from low 40's to around 57 one day.
Simran: We're from Chicago as well, and spent Christmas last year in Italy, including Venice, Florence, Siena and Rome. Was always between 40 and 50 degrees, sometimes a light drizzle, but also some gorgeous sunny days that felt like late April in Chicago! Our standard in the American Midwest, for winters, differs a bit think. (: Buona Natale e buon ano!
