We are planning to go to Rome and Sorrento in the fall. Would November be too late? Hoping to rent an apt. in Rome, and stay at a hotel in Sorrento. Thanks, Claire
Did Rome first week of November. Loved it. Not as busy, and the weather was good. A bit cool - did wear a fleece jacket and a rain jacket layered (but I run cold anyway). We missed any rain.
The crowds weren't too bad. Didn't go as far as Sorrento, but early November should still be good.
Winter bring rain to both cities...so just plan on rain gear for sure.
If you can, go in October. There is usually a definite change in the weather at the end of the month. Statistically November is the rainiest month in the Sorrento/AC area. While IMO it does not matter so much in the cities, it could make for a miserable trip to somewhere where the scenery is one the main attractions.
The latest we have visited Sorrento is 6th Nov and were lucky but these days we go no later then the middle of October. In fact have just booked for October 14th!
