Has anyone been to the Italian Masters tournament in Rome? I'm looking for ideas where to stay, and any other information you might have from your experience. It will be our first time in Europe.

I simply love that on your very first trip to Europe that you will be going to the Masters (Italian Open)! I've seen the tournament on TV year and after year and the venue looks so beautiful. We went to the Paris Masters a few weeks ago.
Look at their General Information page and scroll down to the "Bus & Metro Lines" information. That will give you an idea about the public transport options. Next, google "Italian Open tennis hotels" and you will see links to tennis travel companies with packages including hotel options for the Italian Open. See which hotels they recommend as they probably will be convenient to the Parco del Foro Italico. I'm not saying to go with these companies but see what hotels they use and go from there.
