Rome and Florence Hotels

I am wondering if anyone has stayed at any of the following hotels and what their opinion is in terms of actual size. I've read the reviews on Trip Advisor and elsewhere, so I know these all have positive reviews but I couldn't find much on whether these were tiny, small, decent, or good sized by AMERICAN standards. I am traveling with a relative so we don't want our two twin beds smashed together and want a little space, too. Thank you!

Palazzo Olivia (Basilio or Berta unit)

FLORENCE

La Residenza del Proconsolo

Kerry - In Roma I would absolutely suggest -

http://www.hotelforte.com/en/index.htm My friends Emanuel and Emanuella are great hosts PLUS - The Hotel is located directly at The Spanish Steps - Easy walking distance to The Trevi Fountain, The Roman Forum, Via Veneto. No taxis required!!
Around The steps are many great Cafes and Restaurants and a lot of shopping.

Just to clarify --- I am not expecting American standards - I just want to know how the above hotels rate in accordance with American standards. The reason I asked if anyone had stayed at any of these places is because you really can't tell by pictures alone (I have already looked). Thanks.
