Thanks for the information. Because of it, I have convinced my sister to switch to June for our Rome- Amalfi Coast- Barcelona.

sally, It may be hot and crowded in June also (but of course July will likely be worse in terms of the weather). I've found that Italy is often crowded in the spring and fall "shoulder seasons", so you'll just have to "make the best" of whatever conditions you find. Cheers!
