We are planning a late May trip to Italy....we think Rome to the Amalfi coast. We, my husband and 2 adult sons have done some traveling in northern Italy so we thought we would try a different adventure, although the posts of biking in the Tuscany area sound wonderful. Does anyone have any ideas for 'adventurous' or 'must see' site seeing for these areas? Anyone go on a bike tour or kayak tour? Stay in a farmhouse? We really prefer out of the ordinary experiences. Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.
Just posted to Stephie looking for a bike trip out of Lucca.
If you want a bike or hike trip, 1 day, or more, contact Cicloposse for a custom tour for the 4 of you. you can go self guided for more of an adventure (nothing like getting lost on your bike in Italy!)

Click through their website for more info. We've done 2 self guided tours with this company. Each customized to our wants. Guiliana is amazing, speaks great English, and is there to help. Our trips were the whole reason we were in Italy, first one in Umbria was 8 days long, the second one with them was from Siena to Talamone and was 9 days.

Thank you so much for the replies. The cycle site is great, and definitely will look for the Rick Steves book.

Riding the C'vesuviana to Pompeii I spoke with a couple who had been part of an Elderhostel group. They loved to hike and raved about their experiences in that area. They pointed out their paths from the train window. The through the (looking) glass mode was more my style. And they had about 15 years on me, to boot.
