Rome - Amalfi Coast

After our Ven/Flo/Rome tour we plan to add 4-5 days to see Naples, Pompeii, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast. Any suggestions on timing, transportation, where to stay? We will fly out of Naples. We've also learned that Sun. Nov. 1st is a National holiday. How will this affect our plans?

Will you have a car? You can easily see these places without one, particularly if you base in Sorrento. You should plan to spend your last night in Napoli, especially if your flight is morning or early afternoon. Pompei Scavi is the Circumvesuviana stop for the Pompeii site, allow a half-day. While in Napoli, go to the National Archeological Museum to see what was found there.

Capri could be a full daytrip if the ferries are running at the time of year you will be there (depends on weather). The Amalfi Coast is another full day if you stop at a few of the coastal towns.

Check out some B&B's in Positano - we are flying into Naples and then getting private transportation from the airport to our B&B. It seems like there's a lot of bus transfers and tricky maneuvering along the Amalfi coast so we found that hiring a driver would be the best way to go!
