I know I am to take the FR1 train... so what signs do I follow at the airport to do this? Thanks so much. Last time I was with my family and now I am getting nervous. Thanks so much. I leave tomorrow. Linda
Linda, Are you heading for a hotel in Trastevere? I travelled that same route a few years ago and used the Leonardo Express from the airport to Termini station (€14, DON'T forget to validate!) and then took a Taxi from Termini. It was a very easy trip. Happy travels!
Follow the signs to the train. Both the Leonard Express and the local use the same station.
thanks... that's what I was wondering.
Ken, Yes I am. Didn't think of that. Thanks. We took the LE last year since we stayed closed to Termini.
I certainly don't mean to alarm you, but I would suggest you strongly consider wearing a money belt on the train and be aware of your surroundings. My daughter is studying in Rome for the summer, and one of her friends in her class was mugged on the train from Fiumicino airport to Trastevere (where they are staying). Her purse and carry-on luggage was grabbed and her passport and several hundred Euros were stolen. At the Questura, the police told her the same thing had happened to another young lady the previous day, but she was not as fortunate as the strap on her bag did not break and she was injured as the train pulled away from a stop. Just be aware of your surroundings from the beginning, and you might think about wearing a money belt as a precaution.
Thanks Marge. I know that it is important to be aware and it is easy to forget when observing and in new surroundings.
