we arrive in Rome on July 14, 2019 at 3 pm and need to get to Florence where we've rented a villa for our family. What is best way to get there? We'll have been on 12 hour flight.
also, we'll be going to Salerno to spend a week exploring the Amalfi Coast; what is best way to get there from Florence?

There are direct trains from FCO to Florence but not sure if fits your arrival time
Otherwise take Leonardo express to Termini then train to Florence
Florence to Salerno

Funny, we doing the exact same thing! We will be taking the fast train from Rome to Florence. Then fast train back to Rome for a few days. Then fast train from Rome to Salerno. We booked all of the trains already except not the one after we land at the airport, due to not knowing how late we may be.
