I will be arriving in Rome in September at a bit past 7 in the morning and need to get to Florence. I would like to take the Frecciarossa. Is there a train from FCO or do I have to go into Rome? Thanks!
There are two trains a day train that go directly from Rome Airport to Florence. You should make the decision to buy a ticket once you know are certain that you will be able to catch it
There are only two a day which require no change at Roma Termini or Tiburtina. But I think it’s in the afternoon, so you wouldn’t want to wait that long. There are trains to Florence every 15 or 20 min departing from Roma Termini (which also stop at Roma Tiburtina).
Buy the ticket at the Fiumicino Aeroporto station when you arrive. Do not purchase ahead of time since it’s hard to predict if your flight will land on time.
Give yourself at least 10 min to switch trains in Rome (Roma Termini or Roma Tiburtina).

From FIUMICINO AEROPORTO
To FIRENZE SANTA MARIA NOVELLA
Every train from the airport goes to Termini. So, the better question is --- Do I have to change trains in Termini? The answer is yes with two exceptions. After I arrival I would grab the first train. The ticket booth at the airport train station will give your options. Changing trains in Termini is no big deal. Just takes a little time.
I think there is now only 1 direct (no changes) FCO to Firenze SMNovella at 1:53 pm
I don’t see the morning option just checking random day in late May
The FL1 train from FCO doesn't go directly to Termini - you would have to change trains at Trastevere. Othwise it would go on to Tiburtina, where you could board a fast train to Florence coming out from Termini.
The Leonardo Express goes to Termini.
