Ellen, your other post asks about transfers from Termini to Civitavecchia, not the airport (Fiumicino?). Which is it? And in your other post you say you're not interested in taking the train. What is your idea of affordable?

The word “affordable” makes it hard to advise. There is a bus, according to the website rome2rio, and it is very cheap but it does not start at Termini, so you would have to get you and your luggage to (I think) Piazza Indepenza to board, which may not appeal. Ask your cruise line if there is a transfer available from Rome to the ship. When I arrived at Civitavecchia once on a Holland America ship, a transfer was offered from the ship to Rome for US$95.

Welcome to the RS Forum!

Ellen, tell us more about your itinerary. We'll be better able to help you. How many are in your party? How long is your trip? Have you been to Europe before? Are there any mobility issues?

There's a wealth of information at the RS site to help you have a fun trip. Your mention of luggage raised a red flag. If you've not traveled to Europe before, you might want to read about packing light. It really makes a difference.

Ellen, as noted above this bus departs from Piazza Indipendenza - several blocks from Termini - and while inexpensive, it's not going to completely eliminate some hauling of luggage. You'll also have to add the price of either train, bus or taxi from Fiumicino to Termini. I'll echo Doug in asking about size/weight/number of bags and if there are mobility challenges?

It appears to make only 2 runs a day (3:30 - 4:00 PM) and can take quite a bit longer than the 1 hour stated if traffic is very heavy (read reviews; use an online translator for those not in English).

Flixbus shows the same departure location and times:

I'm really not seeing much in the way of bus shuttles from Fiumicino although I very likely could be overlooking them.

I'm not sure what your definition of affordable is but we used Civitavecchia Cab Service. They have a website that will give you an estimate when you fill in time of pick-up, number of people and number of bags. We were happy with the service. We used them from airport to Civitavecchia, Cruise Port to Rome and Rome to Airport. They always showed up on time.

There is a company called Civitatours which offers low-cost transfers
between Fiumicino Airport and Civitavecchia.

T. I just looked at the website and they don't appear to offer the inexpensive bus transfers TO the port from Fiumicino or Termini, only the other way around....which is sort of weird as you'd think the bus would want to make the return trips with paying passengers.

The bus also appears to run VERY few days per week and only 1 run per each of those days. Unless, of course, i'm missing something?
