Rome Airport Hotels

Is there a hotel at the Rome airport that offers early morning (7am) shuttle to the airport? No lectures, please I know everyone says I should spend the last night in Rome, but we're coming in from Sicily after an almost 3 week trip that will start in Rome, end in Palermo. All we want is a comfortable bed for one night before the AM departure! Thanking all of you in advance

The Hilton is at the airport. No shuttle, just walk.

We had a similar situation in 2012. Flew from Catania to FCO, and arrived mid-afternoon. After 3+ weeks of traveling, we had no appetite for one more night in Rome and a very early morning trek to the airport. We did not, however, want to be stuck at the airport for half a day, nor be limited to a hotel for our dinner. We found a nice, reasonable hotel on Tripadvisor, Porticciolo I think was the name. Clean, modern room, good breakfast. They arranged for a morning taxi. We spent the afternoon walking around Fiumicino. There were several other equally attractive options listed on TA. Look under "Fiumicino Hotels," not Rome airport. One bit of advice. Don't take one of the Rome taxis to get to your hotel. They charge the same fare for the 5 minute ride as they do for the ride into Rome. There is an official Fiumicino taxi rank separate from that for Rome. Much cheaper.

Rosalyn, I am printing up your advice for future use! This time we're arriving late from Palermo, and the airport will do. I've heard about Fiumicino, but never stayed there. Thank you so much!

donna, As Frank mentioned, the Rome Airport Hilton is right at the airport. No Shuttle or Taxi needed. When you exit the front door, go a bit left to the tower and take the elevator up to the walkway. It's about a 5 minute (or so) walk to the terminal, but as I recall there's a "moving sidewalk" for part of it (when it's working). That will lead you right to the entrance to the Terminals (T1 & T2 I believe - it's been a while). The Hilton won't be cheap but it's very posh. You could while away some time relaxing in the Artist's Bar with a cool one. Happy travels!

Ken, you're awesome! Have you been to Palermo? I need a hotel rec! Keep in mind we're three 60 year old women, and want to be in a Good Neighborhood!

Hi Donna,
for our trip to Sicily, I checked for accommodations on Trip Advisor. we didn't stay in Palermo. However, we did find s lovely b&b in Taormina, which was our base. I've had good luck with Trip Advisor. Wish Rick would write a Sicily guide.

Yes, Ken! I sent you a message thanking you! But thank you again for the hotel Tito recommendation! I don't know what happened. To the woman recommending Taormina, I'm staying there for a week before I head to Palermo -- second time to the East side, but this time I want to see the west side as well.
