I will be flying out of Rome and would like to stay near the airport since my flight is at 8 a.m. I have a hotel booked near near Piazza Navona for one night but I'm considering cancelling because I'm concerned about getting to the airport and I don't know how long a taxi ride will be. If any one has any suggestions on decent airport hotels, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
There's a Hilton at the airport.

Not very exciting but you can walk from the Hilton. At that time of day a taxi ride from the center of Rome would be 30 minutes. Since it is an 8 am flight I assume it is not a direct flight back to the US so you could go through normal check in at Terminal 3. If yo are there by 6.30am you will have more than adequate time to get to your flight gate.
The airport Hilton would be a great choice. We have stayed there on both ends. Arriving and departing. It's very easy.
You can take the walkway to terminal 3 and be there in about 10 minutes. The hotel also has a shuttle to other terminals.
Also, the hotel has a bus to and from Rome. So if you plan things right and get the schedule, you can take the shuttle from Rome to the hotel and save the 50 euro taxi.
By the way, terms like decent are vague and can mean different things to differnt people. It would be more helpful to define what decent means to you, or whatever you had in mind. If it's budet, say what your budget is. etc.
Angelina,
If you want to spend your final night in Rome, another option would be to use the Leonardo Express to the airport, as that only takes about 30 minutes and is not subject to traffic. Is your flight direct back to the U.S., or are you transiting another airport in Europe first?
If you like the Piazza Navona hotel, you can keep the reservation. As said above, as long as your flight is to another European destination and not nonstop back to the US, you only need to be there about 90 minutes before (so 6:30) and a taxi at that early hour takes about 35 minutes (so you can leave at 5:45 AM and be fine). Just have the hotel book your cab the night before. It's a fixed rate of €48 and no tipping is needed.
The Rome Airport Hilton is the only one actually on airport property; it's connected by passageways to terminals 1-2-3, and by shuttle bus to terminal 5 (used for flights by US carriers nonstop back to the US). All other "airport hotels" will require a shuttle; at that point, I'd just stay at Piazza Navona. Note that the Hilton Garden Rome Airport is not the same as the Rome Airport Hilton; the former requires a shuttle bus.
Here's my review of the Rome Airport Hilton: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy-reviews/rome-accommodation-rome-airport-hilton. Short version: it's fine if unspectacular.
Thank you all so much, your advice has been very helpful. I fly to London then to the US. I thought I'd need to be at the airport by 5 a.m. but after reading your comments I realize that is not necessary. Good to know that I can keep my reservation.
