What is the easiest transportation from FCO to Trastevere? I did read that there’s a train that goes from FCO, not the speed one, near Trastevere then take a bus for remainder of trek. Seems simple, right?
Just take a taxi.
Taxi, door to door. Set charge from airport is €48 for up to four people and luggage. Or you can arrange for a driver to pick you up in arrival hall for the same cost and book and pay from the US. I have used Rome Taxi and Welcome Pick-up and received excellent service.
Right. Easiest would be to take a cab. There is a fixed rate of € 50,00 from FCO to accommodations "within the walls", and Trastevere falls within those borders.
From Rome’s airport you can take a direct train to the Roma Trastevere station (30 minutes); the address is: 00152 Roma RM. You can then take a taxi from there.
The easiest, especially with substantial luggage, would be a taxi, which would take you from the airport to the door of your hotel. However the cost is 50 euro.
The cheapest would be the train from FCO to Trastevere (8€ per person), then the Tramway no. 8 (a light rail trolley) from the Trastevere station to the tramway stop closest to your hotel (1.50€ per person). Then walk. Unless of course you want to skip the tramway, and walk from the Trastevere station to your hotel, which may or may not be a long walk, depending on the exact location of your hotel.
You could also take a taxi from the Trastevere station to your hotel. The cost is based on the taxi meter (no fixed rate within the city) and will vary depending on the distance and the time of travel. The tier 1 rate per km is 1.14€/km, but that is on top of the starting flag down rate which is 3 or 5 or 7 euro, depending if it's weekday, weekend, or night, and also on top of the 1 euro charge per bag after the first one (which is free). So potentially, even if your hotel isn't far from the station, you could potentially spend around 10 euro for a taxi.
Thank you all for the advice
