Rome airport

I'm flying in to Rome airport from Australia ( via Abu Dhabi).
I'm arriving into terminal 3, then flying out to Pisa airport from terminal 1.
Can I walk this?
How long does it take?
Do I have to go outside?
Do I have to catch a shuttle train.
I believe my bags go through on the 1 ticket.

Terminal three at FCO is huge. Almost as large as Australia! The length of time it will take depends on a number of factors: the location of your arrival gate, the location of your departure gate and the biggest unknown - how long will the lines be at immigration. If it is not busy when your flight arrives, the wait will be short but if many planes arrive at the same time, lines can be very long and slow. Once off the plane, this could be as quick as 20 minutes or it could be 2 hours or more. There is no shuttle and you will not have to go outside. When I arrived at FCO in November, the lives were extremely short and the wait at immigration was less than 5 minutes.

The actual actual walk between terminal 3 and terminal 1 is about 10 minutes. I did it outside because the weather was nice and I was on separate tickets (so I had to go through security anyway), but there may be a way to do it inside.
