Rome Airport

If I am flying Alitalia directly to the United States, will I go to Terminal 3 or 5 for my departure. Based on what I have read in a prior posting, it would seem like I would go out of Terminal 3 since Alitalia is not a U.S. flagged carrier, but I am not sure.

For Alitalia you will go to Terminal 3.

Terminal 5 is not really a terminal, it's just a check-in terminal. After check in and security, passenger are bused (air side) back to T3 for actual boarding (there are no gates at T5).

T5 processes check-in procedures for direct flights to the United States and Israel operated by American and Israeli airlines. Temporarily (due to the fire) also for the following airlines: Air China, Air Canada, Air Transat, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Korean Air and Srilankan Airlines.
