You can try venere.com. June is high season and "affordable" means different things to different people. If you can be more specific we might be able to give you some names. Donna

Try SleepinItaly.com, they have helped us with apartments in Florance and Rome for our trip this June. Very fast response on requests.

LP, Have you checked the Italy or Rome Guidebooks. There are lots of listings there for Hotels in various parts of Rome. Which area would you prefer to stay in, and which price range do you consider "affordable"? Good luck!

you can try homeaway.com and freereereservation.com
look to see what area it is near rome and what floor it is on. you really want to look at that to see how many floors you need to pull luggage up or if there is an elevator or lift. we stayed near the piaaza navona area which was a great area but was on the third floor and pulling luggage up 3 flights of stairs was not a cup of tea. good luck and have fun in rome.

Try AirBnB.com, Booking.com or Venere.com for many, many budget accommodations.

Thank you all. Great suggestions and am trying them all. The challenge is the time year (mid June) and needing 2 rooms.,,,but our quest continues!

We used cross-pollinate.com and stayed at Iris's flat for 115Euros per night last week. The apartment was in Trastevere and was a fun place to stay.

We stayed at the River Palace Hotel. It was within walking distance of the Fountain of Trevi, The Spanish Steps, the Victor Emanuel Monument and the Pantheon. It was a great hotel. It has wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor. We were there at the end of August for six nights. It was extremely hot.

Unfortunately the River Palace Hotel is booked for the time period we are seeking. Thank you though for the suggestion.

Hi, I read on a post a couple months ago that if the hotel says it is booked online, try calling. Sometimes they don't always make all there rooms available through the web. Just a thought if you have a particular hotel you wish to stay at, you might want to call or email.
Good luck.
