Any suggestions where family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teenage girls - should stay in Rome? First time visit - 4 nights first week of June. Have looked at family rooms in Rick Steves guidebooks but very limited inventory. Have also looked at airbnbs as well but not sure what neighborhoods are safe and close to sights. Thanks for any suggestions
Many Forum members stay in the Trastevere neighborhood and liked the atmosphere. My travels were solo on both visits to Rome and I stayed at a RS Hotel while on tour and in a hostel when independent. It’s been so long ago, I can’t remember where the Rome hotel was but believe it was near the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Anyway, search through Booking.com for accommodation ideas and then book directly with the particular hotel/apartment that interests you. Booking is a good search engine because it is very user friendly by offering many different filters to your search. June will be busy so book sooner rather than later. Be sure you read the fine print on cancellation deadlines for the specific property you are interested in to give yourself some flexibility in case you find a better option in your search.
Good luck and happy travels!
The Hotel Smeraldo has family suites and is in a fantastic location. We brought 2 of our children and stayed there 2 years ago and it was great. The suite also has 2 bathrooms and a little kitchen. Having said that, these suites are super popular, and finding availability this close to your trip date may be problematic.
I second the recommendation for Hotel Smeraldo. Also, look at Hotel Portoghesi, which has suites and an apartment. Great location, good breakfast included in the rate.
