Rome - 1 Week

Hello all, my wife and I will be spending a week in Rome next month. We only eat vegan, more specifically whole food plant based, so we’re looking for an Airbnb / Vrbo where we can cook at home for most of our meals. On a previous thread, a few folks mentioned neighborhoods with great grocery stores / farmers markets. Any advice on 1) the best neighborhoods for convenience getting to the sights but also close to stores/markets, and 2) what are some good markets to buy food?

Also open to hearing any other inside info on Rome. Reading Rick Steve’s guide as we speak!!!

There is a Naturasi store in Piazza Farnese which is adjacent to Campo dei Fiori, known for its daily market. Naturasi is the equivalent of Whole Foods in the US. Staying in that neighborhood also puts you close to the major sites, and it's an easy walk to Trastevere and 20 minutes to Vatican City.

In terms of markets there are “mercati rionali” (neighborhood markets) in every neighborhood. In addition you can find supermarkets and green grocers’ shops everywhere. Big store American style supermarkets are not numerous in the city center, due to limited real estate space availability, but there are plenty of small or midsize supermarkets, especially of the Carrefour chain. So I wouldn’t worry about produce availability in any neighborhood you happened to find the AirBnb you like.
