Romantic Venice B&B's

Hi everyone! Would appreciate all recommendations for romantic B&B's in Venice, ideally period furnishing or old world ambiance, great views, aircon/wifi, surroundings that make you feel like you're a part of venice and not a tourist, walkable to major sights, it's our 10th year anniversary so looking for a place where you can just kind of walk around and get lost and still be in a picturesque setting...sounds cheesy sorry:-) If you can share your experiences that would be great!

It would be better if you could give a cost range per night and what month you will be there.. Venice w/ your req. can be pricey.
Just a suggestion.

Thank you. I am hoping for 150 euros and it will be mid June. Willing to go up 200 euros if it's worth it.

I love Antico Doge, it's just what you're looking for. They're on trip advisor.

I like staying in the Frari Church area. My favorite hotel is H. Tivoli--two stars. Across the street is the hotel Pantalon--3 stars. This area is not as touristy as the St. Marks area, but is within walking distance to many places. I ride the Vaporetto mostly, because I have bad knees. There are many restaurants and shops in this area and on the walk toward Rialto and the mercato. IMHO all of Venice is picturesque.

Okay I requested a quote from Antico Doge. I am also looking at La Calcina but for 180 euros thats without view, for Ca Bonvicini http://www.cabonvicini.com/ thats superior with canal view, near rialto bridge, but I don't know much about santa croce neighborhood..and 150 for casa rezzonico http://www.casarezzonico.it/ which is supposedly in a nice quiet area near campo margheritti. Do you have any thoughts on these?

We just returned from our third stay at Bloom Guest House. http://www.bloom-venice.com/ It's in Campo San Stefano very near the Accademia bridge. Wonderful view from a shared terrace. Complementary prosecco in a fridge in the sitting room. Absolutely walkable to all major sites. Probably not in your budget in June, but so worth a splurge. Also, when you check rates, you'll see two other properties--Locanda Fiorita and Settimo Cielo. Settimo Cielo is in the same building sharing the same terrace and fridge but less expensive, I believe. Best,
Jeffrey

My son and daughter-in-law just stayed at Locanda Orseolo; Corte Zorzi, San Marco 1083, 30124, Venice Phone: +39 041 5204827 www.locandaorseolo.com. AND they LOVED it!!! May not have views but the service is great. Enjoy (if you can get in at this late date)! Tom

My guess is that it's not available, but the suite at Ca La Vele is absolutely worth the splurge. You get a private balcony overlooking a small canal. It's just steps from the Ca D'Oro Vaporetto stop and walking distance to St. Mark's. Breakfast is brought to your room on a silver tray. It's quiet, the bed is comfortable, and the owners/hosts are very helpful.

Thank you everyone! I checked bloom and fully booked:-( H. Tivoli I will send inquiry but it's in dorsoduro, I already found casa rezzonico http://www.casarezzonico.it/ which is higher rated.
I'm just second guessing myself because it's our anniversary so I'm wanting something more charming and romantic. Someone suggested Ca bonvicini, http://www.cabonvicini.com/eng/hotel.html , http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187870-d556857-Reviews-Ca_Bonvicini-Venice_Veneto.html #11 on tripadvisor , and much higher rated than casa rezzonico on booking.com, tripadvisor and venere.com. The price is not that much different for canal view room, but when I read reviews dorsoduro seems more preferred than Santa Croce. Casa rezzonico reviews mention nice restaurants and zattere promenade and academia and Peggy Guggenheim, but the much higher rated ca bovinci hardly mention anything about restaurants in neighborhood. So I guess my question is, is Santa Croce as a neighborhood not as nice and charming as dorsoduro? Or is all of Venice the same anyway when it comes to neighborhoods. Bovincini seems the better choice the hotel itself but neighborhood seems casa rezzonico is better. Basing on reviews, since I've never been there I don't know if they paint a complete picture.

Tina, you are overthinking. You want the perfect neighborhood, the charming B&B, and a great price. I would focus on the latter two. The neighborhoods iin Venice are not all that different, it's all Venice and a maze of narrow little streets and canals. Your choices are canal view or not, balcony, maybe on a square, but the dream of "little shops and restaurnats" nearby is not worth the pursuit. That is Paris, but not so much Venice. Plan on walking somehwere-that is the romantic part! That Ca' Bonvicini looks very nice and there is nothing wrong with Santa Croce. It is where Venetians live. You might also check Rosa di Venezia: http://www.rosadivenezia.com/en/index.htm It is an apartment, probably already booked, but it doesn't get much more romantic than that.

Okay thank you for all the replies! Wow, I didn't even know apartments for short term was an option, I looked at the links and they certainly would've been my first preference if they were not all fully booked by now. For our rome and paris part of the trip I ch a B&B in a heartbeat, because it's all about the sights..but for venice yes I have been over thinking for weeks! You can blame the movies for that:-) But your reply certainly helps, I guess I just needed to hear from someone who has been there that it's all the same as far as neighborhoods go and I can walk to them anyway. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We stayed at Le Mansarde. Great B&B-search on google or trip advisor. Near Jewish Grotto, in residential neighborhood, but within walking distance to everything. Best experience! Anna Maria is the best hostest!! If you like to be with the locals instead of tourists, you would like this place.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in Europe last September. For Venice I looked for the same, romantic, Venecian Furnishings with charm, a view, and a suite. We were just talking about our 2013 trip back to Europe and if we end up in Venice, we'll look no further for a room. Best Windows has 4 or 6 large suites overlooking Piazza San Marco in the Clock Tower. More of an apartment building than a hotel, but you check in/out at a hotel a couple blocks away. Above your budget at around $260 Euros, but slurge here and save elsewhere. We walked and wandered everwhere and as far as lodging, this was the highlight of our trip.

Hi Tina, Locanda Orseolo, near St. Mark's, also gets our vote! Definitely romantic, our room had a fantastic view and the entire staff was the best we have ever encountered, ANYWHERE! The breakfasts, especially the crepes, were fantastic too! Ciao!
