Roman Forum Super Sites

We have a credit with The Roman Guy Tours, and looking at using our credit on their “Colosseum Underground Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill ”. It is a 4hr tour starting at 10am, ending at 2pm and we are looking at also purchasing Super Site tickets to continue the visit after The Roman Guy tour completes as we are right there. Is adding the Super Sites too much to accomplish in one day? We are looking at taking the tour on Saturday or Sunday (leaning towards Sunday) because it looks like all the Super Sites are open on Saturday & Sundays. Is this a bad choice? Would it be unrealistic to try and see all the super sites, or from a time perspective, would we only be able to hit a few anyway? Are there any noted as a "must see" if we find ourselves only able to see a few? Are some sites only open in the morning, so having our tour end in the afternoon will we miss access to some sites? Are they all really close to each other where we would just walk from one to the other? Are they well marked? Any advice would be welcome.

Is this what you're asking about? I'd be leery about all the technology it involves -- video projections, "lightmapping," etc. And note the capacity limits on most of the sites it covers, especially if you're going on a weekend. But hopefully you'll hear from some folks who have done this.

I know a four-hour tour covering the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill would wear me out, but I'm probably older than you.

Thanks Dick, yes, the link you attached outlines the Super Sites we are inquiring about. I believe they are fairly new in being made available so hoping to tap into some insight on visiting them.

Robert, this pass does appear to be very new, and isn't even available for purchase right now on the Coopculture site so info on that (official) website is sketchy at best. This is supposed to be the purchasing page:

https://ecm.coopculture.it/index.php?option=com_snapp&view=products&catalogid=D3E7023B-B1F4-15D2-6CD8-016F5718A495&snappTemplate=template3&lang=en

The parcocolosseo site linked in the previous post also states that's not currently available. That said, this blogger has laid out some details that might be useful when the pass becomes available (no idea when that will be):
https://www.thegeographicalcure.com/post/decoding-rome-s-super-pass

Digging into the parcocolosseo site turned up the (supposed) opening/closing hours/days for the sites. They vary by season and by day, and some are only open in the afternoon or morning/early afternoon.

So if any/all of the info gathered from the websites above is accurate, I see some issues trying to get the best of this ticket on the same day as your tour. Some of the sites close early enough in the afternoon that you'd have to rush to backtrack/find them when your Roman Guy tour is done (not sure what hour of the afternoon that will be?)

If your tour is going to be during the late spring/summer/early fall months, you could be spending most of a day out in the hot sun. Or rain. Then there's the issue of breaking for lunch/restrooms between tour and SUPER sites, if necessary. There are no restaurants/cafes at either the.Palatine or Forum, although there are restrooms and said to be some vending machines with drinks and snacks. You could leave the sites completely between tour and SUPER pass sites (not in the middle of either) but that would eat valuable time.

The blogger's details indicate that timed-entry reservations will be necessary for three of the SUPER sites, even with the pass, so you'd have to plan ahead for that when you buy it. Two of those three are in the group that close in the early afternoon.

Lastly, any of this information could change at any time; sightseeing info is fluid at best these days! HA! But all-in-all? I wouldn't personally try to use this pass on the same day as your tour.

I can't find a single review online from anyone who has purchased this pass yet so it's either so new that very few have used it, reviewed it or even been able to purchase it but will keep an eye out as I'm interested too. Wish I had firsthand help for you! :O(
