Roman Forum: Guided vs Audio tour

I am weighing the available tours at the Roman Forum: Audio vs Guided. Can someone suggest on the one hour english guided tour that runs only fridays through Sundays? Would you recommend this? Did you feel it was informative? Did the guided tour only cover the forum? What about Palatine Hill?

Since the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill share an entrance, does the 2 hour audio guide cover both sights? Would you recommend it?

I did the audio tour of the Roman forum three years ago and at that time I thought it was the worst audio tour I had ever taken. The spots referred to in the guide were not well marked and sometimes were not marked at all. We had trouble identifying what it was we were supposed to be looking at. I also did not like the level of detail on the audio guide - I felt it sometimes stopped very abruptly when more information could have been given and at other times was way too wordy.

I have not taken the Guided tour.

Are we discussing the audio guide that the you can rent there for €5-7, plus leaving your ID? One downside of that is that you must backtrack to return it to the Forum entrance. Rick's audio tour is free to download to your own mobile device and matches info in his book.

I'm talking about the audio guide provided by the venue, not Rick Steves.
