Roman Forum Entrance...Which One Is Best?

I know that RS recommends the Palatine Entrance, south of the Colosseum for shorter ticket lines. But I've found little info about the other entrance near the Mamertine Prison.
It used to be called Largo Romulo e Remo, and it's west of the Colosseum. It would be more convenient for us, as it's west of the Metro and the entrance is right where we plan to begin exploring. Are both RF ticket offices equal in regards to shorter lines?

The Colosseo Combo ticket includes the Colosseo, the Forum, and Palatine Hill. There are three entrances: (1) the Colosseo, (2) the Forum at Largo della Salara Vecchia, just off at Via dei Fori Imperiali, and (3) the Palatine Hill entrance at Via di San Gregorio. The "entrance" near Mamertine Prison is actually an "exit-only." You cannot enter the Forum at this point. Perhaps you are reading an older guidebook or website posting. Since they started charging - in 2008 - they've blocked off multiple entrances into the Forum. You can still head down from Palatine Hill into the Forum. You can walk from the Colosseo Metro to the Forum entrance or you can ride multiple buses, as there is a bus stop on the Via dei Fori Imperiali about 75 meters from the entrance. Some folks ride the Metro to the Circo Massimo station and walk from there - seeing Circo Massimo, the Aqua Claudia and picking up tickets at Palatine Hill on their way to the Colosseo. There's also a bus stop in front of and across the street from the Palatine Hill entrance. Shorter lines depend on the time of day, day of the week, and time of year you go. Often, the Palatine Hill lines are the shortest, followed by the Forum, and the busiest always seems to be the Colosseo. This article may help you: Avoiding the Lines at the Colosseo.
