wanted to know if anyone has gone to St. Callixtus catacombs? We are thinking if going to this one when we are in Rome and wanted to know how far it was to walk from Spainish Steps / Trevi Fountain area. Is it better to walk or go via metro?

I guess it's about 4 miles to get there, a bit far too walk in my books. Better take the bus, the metro doesn't go to the Via Appia. Here are instructions how to get there:

All catacombs are outside the center of the city. You can take a bus, visit the catacombs, and if you are interested go to Acqueduct Park on Via Appia and/or climb part of the old city wall at the Wall Museum.
