The online system does not have the Piu pass. Ron (roninrome) also answered a question on "Is Roma pass worth it". Does anyone know if this is not available online but is available in Rome? I am taking my daughter who wants to be a landscape designer and Villa D'Este and Ville Adriana are our first port of call. They don't come under teh Roma pass - I like the ease of use of a travel pass so should I just go for a travel pass if the Piu pass is not available? The other place on our plan is the Vatican Museum, may be Borghese gardens but not the museum.
Thank you - Nalayini
You never really know until you get there whether the Roma passes will be available. But they've jacked up the price of the pass so it's not as much of a bargain as it once was. As for the Vatican Museum, that's in a different sovereign country, so the pass won't help you. Do consider getting one of the transit passes, though, specifically the BTI or the CIS, depending on how long you're in Rome. They're very convenient, allowing you to hop onto a bus, tram or the Metro whenever it's convenient. RonInRome has information on the transit passes here. Happy travels.
In 2009 we bought our Roma passes at Termini Station when we arrived in the city. We thought they were pretty good value - sorry to hear that the price has gone up.
The romapass and the roma&Piu pass are two different passes. The Piu pass has not been available for at least two years, either online or in Rome. There was a few weeks last summer when the romapass was not available for purchase online but it was still available at tourist kiosks and at the sites. The Vatican museums is not covered by either pass so if you wish to visit the museums you'll need to book entry tickets. IF you wish to travel out to Villa D'Este or Villa Adriana just buy regular tickets at the train station. This will be the easiest and most cost effective. Donna
Thank you Donna. This is exactly what I wanted to know - That the Piu pass is not even available in Rome. That helps me make a decision about getting the Roma Pass or just going with the transportation pass.
