We are heading to Italy this July with our three children (age: 5, 8, and 11) I don't think it would be worth it to purchase them a Roma Pass because they will get into so many places for free and the public transportation is free for the younger two. If I reserve them a ticket to the Colosseum online will they be able to skip the line with us and our Roma Pass?? The other place we would like to use the Roma Pass would be the Galleria Borghese. Anything I should know about using it there? Thank you!! -Beth
Hi Beth,
I am not as experienced as many here, but here's my $0.02. I too will be in Rome with my 3 kids (9, 12, 14) in July. My husband and I will each get a Roma pass for 3 days (2 free sites, discounts on others, free transportation) but not get one for any of the kids. They can enter in the pass line with you (skip the line) and get a ticket at the entrance where you show the pass, or get in free with you and your pass, depending on the site. I cannot recall specifics on this, but Im sure if you look up the Roma pass, you will find this explained.
On the Borghese, you must call Italy to make reservations because you will have a pass (that is, you NEED reservations; make it for 5 people, and you will get a reservation #). I just did it this morning, and other than waiting for my turn (I was the 8th caller, it took about 5 minutes of waiting) it was very straightforward. I told them I wanted to reserve a specific date and time (you know they allow entrance for 2 hour slots that you reserve ahead yes?) for 5 and that I would be using a pass for my husband and myself. If you Google the Borghese gallery and go to the purchase tickets page, there is a little paragraph above where you can select tickets that says this about the pass and gives the phone number to call. Dial 011 first.
Hope this helps. Let us know what you learn

Beth, this thread should help with your question about the Colosseum (ignore the part about Firenzecards):
