The Roma Pass website says after the first two admissions to museums/archaeological sites, you receive "concessionary tickets" to all other covered museums/sites. What is a concessionary ticket? Do you have to queue at the museum ticket office to buy this? This sort of defeats the whole purpose of the pass. Thx!
Senior citizens are in this category.
It's something translated by someone who doesn't know English.
No, it's translated by someone who does knows English - British English. "Concessions" or "concessionary tickets" is a British term meaning reduced tickets or discounts for certain groups. Normally it'd be groups such as pensioners (Americans would say seniors), students etc - on production of proof of age or studying. But in this case it means reduced tickets for those who have visited other sites.
There are no senior discounts to state run sites. The romapass doesn't give a "senior" discount. Those stopped being offered by the state a few years ago.
Concessionary entry is entry at the reduced cost. This is usually just for EU students between 18-26 but if using the romapass you qualify for these discounts after you've used the first two free entries. You will wait in the regular line to get these discounts but the only site covered by the pass that will have long lines is the colosseum and most people use a free entry for it.

Yup, just two "free" entrances - to the first two places visited only - and then a slightly reduced charge for the rest, a concession (or discount for North American English speakers) in exchange for all that pass price.
2 "free entries". Next 2 entries were 50% off. Validate pass first bus trip or entry. Transportation with no validation after the first validation. Bus travel in Rome appeared to have no validation security on line 40. Metro and bus travel can get very crowded in the early to late evening. Metro more so.
What's "validation security"?
Next 2 entries were 50% off.
Not all of them may be 50% off the full price. For instance, full price at the Capitoline Museums is €15,00, and concessions is € 13,00 so only a discount of € 2,00.
Thx for you help, everyone!
There was no security individual to check validated tickets on line 40. Driver is in an enclosure. If he sees behind, maybe it is by camera. Roma Pass, after obtaining provides you a booklet, this booklet is online too!
Drivers don't check tickets in Italy, the line doesn't make any difference. They are paid to drive and to block lanes at stops as less as possible.
Validation checks can occur randomly by inspectors that can get on the bus at any point.
Unlike in some countries which check every ticket every time, most places in Europe work on the honour system, underpinned by apparently random (but highly planned to look random) inspections. Persons found during one of those checks without a correct ticket or validation (even if they have a valid ticket that is not validated for whatever reason) should expect a very high on-the-spot fine.
The instructions are on signs in every Rome bus, not only in Italian but also in English.
You might go three weeks without a ticket check and then have three or four in one day.
