Roma pass questions

Hi all,

1.Does the Roma pass include advance tickets for Galleria Borghese and Colosseo/Palatino?

  1. Is there a enterance fee for Foro Romano?

  2. Does Roma pass include tickets to Vatican? If not, is it necessary to buy advance tickets to Vatican in September?

  3. Do I need to buy separate tickets for the Musei Vaticani, Sistine Chapel, Vatican Garden, and Basilica di San Pietro?

  4. Is there Papal audiences in September?

Thanks!

When purchasing the pass, you get a list of where the pass is valid. It provides full coverage for the first two sites you choose to visit, then a discount at the remaining sites. It also provides free metro for three days and that is where we found it most convienent. It doesn't cover the Vatican or Basilica, and you don't make any advanced reservations. I think you can look online at what the pass covers. We just went to a tourist information booth and purchased ours. The attendants were very helpful. We used Ricks Italy book on where to locate TI,s.

Jenny, for more info on the Roma Pass, CLICK HERE . There will be no Papal Audiences in Rome in September (although some are shown on the Vatican website, the Vatican is saying that these will be done at the Pope's "retreat" as he does not usually return to Rome until October).

The Vatican Museums ticket DOES include the Sistine Chapel. The Vatican Gardens ( which I think are over-rated for the cost) are a separate ticket. The primary section of St. Peter's Basilica is FREE, and so are the Pope's tombs downstairs, although you will pay to climb to the top of the cupola (or ride the elevator) and there is a charge if you want to go into the Museum "wing" of the Basilica.

I think you will have no problems, especially in the afternoon, avoiding lines in September. It's all about timing! For more info on avoiding lines at the Vatican, CLICK HERE
