Roma Pass - minor complaint

I believe the Roma Pass is generally a good purchase: for 25 Euros, for 3 days you get unlimited access to Rome's public transit plus reductions on admissions to a long list of tourist sites. However, on the final day using my Pass, I purchased admission to Cecelia Metella tomb, Villa dei Quintili, and Terme di Caracalla. This combination ticket clearly shows that it was purchased using a Roma Pass, and says this specific ticket is "valido 7 giorni-valid 7 days." I visited the first 2 sites on the day of purchase, and arrived at Terme di Caracalla the next day. Although the ticket was marked valid for 7 days, the man at the entrance said I could not use the ticket because my Roma Pass had expired. I pointed out that while the Pass is only good for 3 days, the ticket clearly is marked that it was purchased with a Roma PAss and is valid for 7 days. I think this is, at best, confusing, and I also object to the man's snarky attitude when he refused me admission. Has anyone else had this experience?

It's just the same as if you had purchased the colosseum combo pass on your last day at the discounted price. The ticket is good for 2 days but when you purchase it at the discounted rate it is only good through the validity of the romapass so you would have been turned away from the remaining sites with that also. It's very important to remember that even if a ticket is for a combo site, when using the romapass it's only valid for the validity of the romapass. It's unfortunate that you had to find out this way but those are the rules of the pass. Donna

I had a different experience with the Roma Pass. My group visited the Colosseum, Forum and Paletine hill in the morning using our Roma Pass. Later that afternoon, we took the Colossuem lower level tour and used our Pass again (for our second free entry). The Pass would not scan properly as we had used them that morning, but the person at the entry gate let us through as she understood what we were trying to do. The next day, we went to the Borghese Gallery and were going to use the Pass for a reduced entry fee, as we had used up our 2 free entries. When we got our tickets, our Roma Passes were scanned and we were not charged an entry fee. I asked if there was a charge, and the person at the desk said, "no". Must be a glitch in the system. I guess we got lucky.

It's not a glitch in the system. Your pass didn't scan for the second entry into the colosseum as it's not set up that way. The attendant let you in. You basically got back into the colosseum for free which is why you still had a fee entry available for the Borghese gallery. It was very nice of the attendant to do that for you. Donna
