Roma Pass...Have you used it and was it worth the 20 Euro Price?

My mom and I will be in Rome for Christmas 2007. We are taking the ETBD 7 day Rome tour, but will be arriving in Rome a few days before the tour starts.

I am considering purchasing the Roma Pass, especially since it allows 3 days of unlimited public transportation and 2 museum entry fees. But I was wondering if anyone here has used this pass and what your thoughts on it were...did you think it was worth it?

We used the Roma Pass back in September and I would recommend it... Just figure out if it is cost effective for you. Using it for the more expensive sites (like the Colesseum/Palatine Hill and Borghese Gallery) really made it a good deal. It was also easy to use for the buses and metro - no need to stop and get tickets. If I remember correctly you also get a discount on the Hop On Hop Off tourist bus with it. We bought it at the TI right in front of the Castello Sant'Angelo as the TI in the train station was not open any time we were at the station.

I've been to Italy twice since November 2006, and it's absolutely worth the 20 Euro! It's great to know you can hop on any subway, regular or electric bus without having to find an automated ticket machine or open tobacco shop. In addition to covering transportation, it gets you into two museums free, and then others at a discounted price. A hidden bonus is the map which covers the sites under the Roma pass...it gives you open/closed times, and the metro or bus lines to get to that site.

You can pick up the Roma Pass at two different places within the Roma Termini. I've used on both my trips and will be doing so again in May.
