ROMA pass for teens?

Hello,
I am looking to buy the ROMA pass and wondering if I need to purchase for my kids (12 and 15) as well? It is unclear on their website. I understand that archaeological sites, museums, etc... are all free for under 18. So assuming this, we would just buy the kids separate transportation cards? Has anyone done this?

Seems like all the Colosseum tickets are already sold out for late December but we can access through the Roma pass. Is that how others have gotten access?

Have people generally had good luck with with the Roma pass?

Thanks for any insights!

if you search here on the Forums for Roma Pass in previous threads you'll find a few positive comments, but they are outweighed about 30 to 1 against.

Be very careful to understand exactly what you're getting and more importantly what you are NOT getting and the exact time frames....

Are you sure that you don’t also need a reservation to use at Colosseum?

As mentioned above, I'm one of the people who haven't, and wouldn't, purchase the pass as it simply doesn't cover enough. Yes, you do need advance, timed-entry reservations for the Colosseum and Galleria Borghese even if using the pass.

I'll strongly suggest reading through the entire FAQ section for details regarding use and limitations of this pass. Section 5.1 on this page explains the reservation system for the 2 attractions I listed above:

Also this, regarding children:

Rome being very much a 'walking city', we've only felt the need to use public transport a couple of times, and simply bought inexpensive, single tickets for that; the transport piece of the pass wouldn't have been worth it to us. The pass also doesn't cover public transport to/from Fiumicino.

Thanks for the great feedback and it does seem like the Roma pass is only so-so. BUT, I was able to book Colosseum tickets through the ROMA pass for late December and the regular Colosseum website is sold out. So I have a time ticket entry through the ROMA pass so it seems like there is the value. The other alternative is booking a pricier tour.
Has anyone had any problems using the ROMA pass for the Colosseum? I realize only one tour option is available but at this point we will take what we can get!

I'm probably confused (Nothing new there!) but to my knowledge the Roma Pass doesn't cover any tours at the Colosseum?
