Roma Pass ending shorter line admission/requiring reservation?

On the Colosseum website there is a statement that as of 29 March 2019 the Roma Pass will still need a reservation to get in to the Colosseum. Is it still beneficial to purchase the Roma Pass? Should it be done online now since reservations are now required for the Colosseum? In the 2019 Italy book it says to not purchase online but it appears that you need the pass number to book the Colosseum reservation. Can someone please clarify?
TIA,

Jenni, the new requirement for Roma Pass holders to make reservations for the Colosseum is also discussed in the FAQ section of the R.P. website (under "reservations").

Just my own take on the pass but as prior reservations are now required at both the Borghese AND the Colosseum, if using the thing for those, I don't think it's a particularly worthwhile purchase. It's a matter of the math: how many other attractions ot covers that one has the time/desire to see, how significant the card discounts are for those, and how much one intends to use the public transit system.

I've a hunch that for many purchasers, the prior ability to access the Colosseum without ordering tickets online and/or being locked into a time slot was probably the most attractive benefit of the pass.

Great, Kathy. Thank you--that's what I was thinking. It was just confusing to sift through the contradictions.--Jenni
