Just curious as to whether Ostia Antica is on your must see list or if it's a "get away from the city for a while" activity. The reason I ask is that it was on our list for the latter reason, but we decided instead to take a regional train to Sperlonga on the coast (easy day trip).

hi I heard Ostia antica is very interesting and I we have missed it each time we were in rome. I wonder if the ROMA PASS that includes transportation by train to Ostia???

Annette, Ostia is wonderful. You should go. it's a wonderful site to see, and when we were there a few years ago..you could wander pretty much everywhere, not much was marked off with fencing. It's pretty fascinating to walk the ruins, and it was much less crowded than Pompeii..
