Is it possible to book the colosseum tour online and use the Roma Pass when purchasing it. We want to use the colosseum tour as one of the free tours
You don't book a tour with the Roma Pass; you simply get a ticket to enter and the ability to skip the line. If you want a tour, I can highly recommend Sonia Tavoletta, [email protected] . Price is €50 per hour for a group (we were 4) and well worth it. Plan 3-4 hours for Colosseo, Foro Romano and Palatino.
The romapass does not cover any tours, it is only for entry. If you wish to book a tour of the colosseum you can call using the official number. You cannot book just a tour online using the romapass. The only way to do this is to call. The number is: 011 39 06 399 67 700 Tell them you already have entry tickets and just need to book a tour. There are two tours available, the underground tour and the main areas tour. The information on both tours is the same so you don't need to book both. After the tours you can stay inside the colosseum for as long as you wish. Donna
Laurel, and Donna, thank you for your replies. Rephase of the question. From the U.S., if we buy in advance an entry ticket to the colosseum using our credit card, and pick up a Roma pass on arrival in Rome, to apply to one of the two free entries, how will that be applied to the Colosseum ticket charge on the credit card?
>if we buy in advance an entry ticket to the colosseum using our credit card, and pick up a Roma pass on arrival in Rome, to apply to one of the two free entries, how will that be applied to the Colosseum ticket charge on the credit card?< You misunderstand how the Roma pass works. It covers your admissions to the first two sights it's used for, then you get discounts on other sights. But if you've already bought and paid for admission to a sight like the Colosseum, you can't then use a Roma pass for that sight. If your credit card has been charged for Colosseum admission, a Roma pass does nothing about this (it won't get you a refund). Hence Donna's advice to call to book a tour, telling them that you have admission covered with the Roma pass and only need to book the tour portion. Or, if you have already gone ahead and paid for Colosseum tickets online, you should either plan to use your Roma pass for other things, or not use a Roma pass at all (if it won't be a good deal for the remaining sights you had in mind).
