Ok, I'm not sure if others have had this issue before, but I just got back from Rome and had an issue with the Roma Pass I bought. It's supposed to give you access for Metro, Bus, etc. use for three days on top of giving you free entrance/discounts to many major sites. Granted, it worked fine for the Roman sites, but the pass "died" on me in the Metro station on the third day. I even tried it at other stations and I had the same problem. So, just want to warn people about that. Also, they Metro day passes are a little iffy. The card you get says that it's valid for 24 hours, but in reality it's just valid the day you buy it. Fore example, I bought my day pass around 10 am one morning thinking that it would still be good to use the next morning before 10 a.m. Nope! It only lasts that day. Rome was awesome, but I think these Metro passes screw tourists out of a little money.

All Rome transit passes expire at midnight, not just the 3-day pass that comes with the Roma Pass. Even locals using a transit pass would encounter the same limits. Your experience does serve a good reminder to travelers not to validate any Rome transit pass late in the day.
