I have my claim number for the borghese gallery and will be planning to use a roma pass. Just wanted sure that I will go to the lower level of the lobby wait in line like everyone else with a reservation and show my roma pass and claim number to get in? or is there a skip the line option?
I think we had to wait in line with everyone else.
Lynn ,making this work to your advantage is a practiced dance step . When you walk in the door turn to your right ( as I remember ) and approach the cashier . Present your confirmation number and your Roma pass , and they will issue your ticket . IMMEDIATELY go to the queue for checking your bag ( NOTHING allowed inside including cameras , don't worry , all perfectly safe . ) this line can build rapidly killing 20 -30 minutes . Upon checking your things , IMMEDIATELY queue up on the entry line . This line too can build quickly . By arriving about an hour early ( not 30 minutes as is usually suggested ) you will be able to enter as soon as the doors open . With only two hours at your disposal , you don't want to waste a single moment on any line . They are very strict about the allowed time . Above all , enjoy it . Looking at the Bernini marbles you won't believe they are stone , but indeed flesh !!
thanks for the suggestions. My appointment is at 1030 but i will surely try to get there an hour early.
We were there 3 weeks ago. We had 9:00AM reservations, arrived at 8:30, waited around for them to open, were 2nd in line and walked right in. Couldn't have been easier.
After getting your ticket and checking your stuff, there's another line for the audio guides. I got one and thought it was worth it. You'll need photo id (driver's license is fine). Try to use the bathroom before your entrance time - there are facilities upstairs, but you don't want to waste any your precious 2 hours. By the way, you can arrive even earlier. There's a small cafe and a gift shop. Most people start on the first floor, then go up to the second. While it is harder to get started with the audio guide, you will avoid a lot of crowds by going to the upper floor first. Then as people stream up, the lower floor won't be crowded. Just to clarify - everyone must collect her/his ticket, one line for all.
