I have read a lot of postings on this issue, and the more I read, the more confused I am. I want to use a 48-hour Roma Pass to book a tour of the Borghese Gallery from the U.S.
I think I understand that I have to buy the Roma Pass, then call the official gallery booking number +39 0632810. Will I be able to speak in English? Anything else I have to know?
Yes you have to call.
Yes they speak English. I forget which but either at the beginning or end of the recorded message you are given a choice in English of pressing a number for English.
Make sure you are calling during Italian working hours on a weekday which is not a holiday.
Expect the 24 hour clock and if giving a date in numbers the day then month then year, rather than the American way. The 7th of September this year is 7/9/18.
Thanks, that helps. I am ready to call, but I need to know first if I really need to buy the Roma Pass now, or if I can just make the reservation at the Borghese and show the pass when I get there.
You can do that. As long as you have it with you at the entrance when you turn up half an hour before your time, and as long as it is used at the Borghese before other places.
Thanks, Nigel. You were a big help.
You do not need to buy the pass before you arrive in Italy. Just tell them that you will be using Roma Pass when you call, which is what I did. Of course I did have my pass when I showed up at the museum.

Thank you Mei. I love this site.
Today (August 15) is a holiday in Italy. Don't be surprised if you can't get through.
