Roma Pass

We will be arriving at the Termini Station in Rome after the TI closes so will not be able to purchase the Roma Passes. However we plan to immediately use public transportation to get to our hotel for the night that is a part of the Roma Pass. Rick says that if we order a Roma Pass online its only a voucher and still must be redeemed at a TI. But I'm wondering if we would be able to go ahead and use the Public transportation portion with the voucher. If not a need a suggestion. Thanks!

Since you are arriving in the evening, you won't be able to use Romapass for attractions until next day. I think you are just going to have to pay for transportation one time, to get to your hotel. The voucher alone isn't going to help you. A cab from termini to a hotel in Rome is probably about 10 euros. Public transportation is probably less. I would just pay the bill for transportation. Have a few euros on hand. I am certain there are ATM machines at termini.

Remember that the 3 day (days end at midnight, not 24 hour days) clock for both sections - transportation and attractions - starts the moment you first use the pass for either.

Just using the whole first day for a bus ride would likely not be value for money.

You won't be able to use the pass because you won't have the pass. The voucher gets you nothing but the pass. You cannot use it as you would the pass. Also, Nigel is right. If you were to get the pass an use it the first night for transport you have wasted an entire day of the pass. It's not valid for 3-24 hour periods, it's valid for three days ending at midnight of the first day. If you use the pass for the first time at 11:30pm on a Monday it still expires on Midnight on Wednesday.

The transport and sites portions of the pass start the first time you use it for either. They are not independent as they once were.

Looks like you are out of luck with the Roma Pass, and what's tougher is that you'll be spending some time the next morning trying to secure a Roma Pass before starting out your day! I guess find other locations where you can more conveniently pick it up the next morning, and just taxi it to your hotel upon arrival. Taxi rates are surprisingly affordable, especially if you are two or more in a group.

Any of the sites that honor the pass will also sell them. Just find something close to your hotel.

In 2012, we bought our Roma Passes at the neighborhood tabacci (convenience/tobacco) store the morning after we arrived. They also sold lotto tickets but weren't busy in the morning and were glad to sell us our passes and get us on our sightseeing way.
