Roma pass

Hey, I'm going to be in Rome for 2 days come August, taking a train from Venice and arriving at 1pm. I'm looking to get the Roma pass but was wondering the best way to get the most money out of it. I know for sure I'm going to use it for free access to the colosseum, forum and palatine hill, but was wondering if anyone knew what the discounted prices were for the other sites included in the Roma pass? I was thinking of using the other free site for the capitoline museum or the borghese gallery. So my thinking was to find out how much the discounted price would be (for the sites used after the first 2 free ones) and base my second free site on which has the higher price. Any help would be great thanx!

The Colosseo, Forum entry plus the Borghese make it worthwhile to buy. At the Colosseo the pass includes skip the line privileges Plus you get bus/metro for 3 days. You'll find a useful PDF to download at http://www.romapass.it/p.aspx?l=en&tid=7. It lists the sites and the discounts. Have fun!

Remember to get a reservation for the Borghese ... the Roma pass by itself isn't enough.

With the cost of the romapass being 36 euros you'll need to visit more sites than just the borghese gallery and colosseum if you want to save money. The colosseum costs 14 euros to enter and the borghese is 18 if you buy them online. The discounts are the reduced rates so you'll need to check with each site or check the romapass website for their price chart. http://www.romapass.it/doc/sitiAderentiCostoBiglietti_eng.pdf''

I wouldn't visit a site based on how much it's going to save me. I would base it off of wanting to see it and being interested in it.

Thanx for the replies, I looked at the list a few weeks ago of things that were covered and I want to do 3/4 of them at least if I have time, so it's not so much just picking and choosing passed on price. I just wanted to find out the best way to use the 2 free sites as I plan on visiting most of them. I figured if doing the borghese gallery and the colosseum saved me a few extra euros versus doing another site and the colosseum as my 2 free entries that would be the best way to go about it.

The two day pass is worse deal than the three day pass. It only gives you one free entry, discounted sites and two days of transport. I would find that really hard to get value out of. I suppose if you planned to pack a lot of pay sites into the itinerary this could work but for me, I would avoid the 2 day pass.

For me the 2 day pass is worthless, it doesn't give me as many savings as the 3 day one. I looked at everything we wanted to see, since our time in Rome is split up, we have a few hours the day we land to do a lot of the free sites, like the trevi fountain, Spanish steps etc. but then we head to Venice for a few days, before coming back to Rome for 2 days. For me it worked out to be a savings of 17€ if we did the roma pass versus not doing it. And I factored in all the metro costs and sights and all that. I actually went and bought one last night. Now I just have to buy Vatican tickets and make a borghese reservation and my Rome leg is all planned out!
