Leaving for Italy next week. Anybody used the Roma pass which gives you 3 days of public transportaion use and free entry to 1st 2 museums or arch. sites? Is it worth getting? www.romapass.it
I have never had the chance to use it personally but it sounds like a no brainer. I always recommend it, know several people who have used it, and the experience seems positive. The only downside I see to things like that is that you don't end up using them enough to make it worth it...
The romapass makes sense if you visit 2 sites and use the transportation pass a few times OR if you visit 3 sites and don't use the transportation pass.
Since the rise in price you need to visit more of the sites or use the transportation part of the pass to make it pay off. If you plan on seeing the main sites in Rome and even one museum (not the vatican museums as they are not covered) then you'll save money. The pass also allows you to bypass the lines at the colosseum.

Yes I have used it and it saved us money. We used it to get into the Colleseo (and skip the line!!) and the National Museum of Rome for free, which practically means it paid for itself right there. But we also used it for extensive travel on buses and metros, which saved a bundle. Plus it's convenient to carry instead of having to dig out a euro each time you hop on a bus. I think the price has gone up since we went last May, but it was worth it from my perspective.
When you travel, time is money. Having just returned from an Italian trip that included getting the Roma pass, and staying in the Trastevere neighborhood across the Tiber for three days, the Roma pass allowed for easy access via bus or tram to the sites in Rome proper while letting us enjoy the more relaxed area of the Trastevere in the evenings. Having the pass saved us a lot of time! Oh, and the savings at the sites plus the quick access to them afforded by the pass didn't hurt either.
I was in Rome the middle of May and bought a Roma Pass. I saved a little money, but the pass was worth every euro when I walked right down the middle of the long lines at the Colosseum and right in with no wait.
Used it. Loved it. Saved a ton.
(Still using it as a bookmark!)
