My mother, sister, and I are planning a trip to italy and would like to get out of the city and explore the italian countryside. We are flying into Genova and would like to rent a car and travel to Venice. Our plan was to explore the countryside for 2 days and return the car in Venice. I have been doing some reseach but I am not finding anything about what to do, where to stay, what route to take, between Genova and Venice. Every itenerary I come across about exploring the italian countryside is based around tuscany (Florence, Sienna, etc). I would really love to find something worth exploring between Genova and Venice.
Is it worth it to make that drive? Or, are we better off just taking the train straight to Venice and skipping the drive?
If it is worth it, what route should we take and what places should we visit?
We are looking to take a quick break from the city, relax, enjoy the scenery, and each others company.
Thank you!!
