Road Map - Tuscany

We're renting a car on a Friday during our stay in Florence and plan to drive around (see countryside, visit wineries etc). I'd like to visit Motalcino (to buy some Brunello!) and Montepulciano. Does anyone know where I can find a good road map to make sure we will get to our destination?
I looked at Michelin's website and saw their directions (it will take about 1.5 hours to get from Montepulciano from Florence, and then about 30 minutes from Montepulciano to Montalcino), but I read on Slow Travel that they do not recommend using those maps for more than a quick reference.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Amanda - go to a bookstore like Borders - they have maps - get the michelin road map for Tuscany - I've used it - it works great! The viamichelin on line maps are only OK - a good planning tool though. Have fun.

Amanda, Jon has some great advice for you. Take along the Michelin "Motoring Atlas of Italy." Better yet, rent a GPS with your rental car, or buy one here that is loaded with the maps of Italy, and have a stress-free driving experience in Tuscany!

I agree with Steve. We have used this atlas three times but a gps would probably be a good investment and you can get it as a extra when you go to rental agency
