My grandmother (who is gone now) was born in Riva Trigosa. I also have family from Chiavari and Sestri Levante. All are in close proximity I believe and while I have no address of old family homes or anything I would still like to take my children to see where our family lived for many generations.
I can find very little info on the three. I would welcome any information you can share (sites, shops, churches, cemeteries, eateries). We will have 2 days in the area.
TripAdvisor has quite a bit on both Chiavari and Sestri Levante, but nothing much on Riva Trigoso.
The good news is that all three are served by train. Google Maps can give you some ideas of local services. Riva Trigoso does not appear to have a tourist office, so I think you just go there and ask around.
It might be worth spending a little bit of time doing some research on the internet before you leave – You might be able to find out some specific information about your ancestors that will enhance you visit. Ancestry.com and the Ellis Island website are good places to start. We were searching for records in Ireland, not Italy, but I was amazed at how much is available on line.
