It has been difficult to find a place/rates for renting a Riva (motorboat) on Lake Como - we'll be staying in Varenna late March 2013. Anyone know what the possibility is for "regular people" (not movie stars/celebs/deep pockets) to rent a Riva for a couple hours, half day, or so?
We have used AC Boat Rental out of Menaggio. 16 ft, 40hp for 135 euro for 2 hours, 175 for 3h, 225 for 4h. They also deliver the boat to you and fuel is included. Tel. 0039-345-9010694. Another option in Varenna recommended to us by a local is Varenna Rent Boat (www.boats2rent-varenna.com). 100 euro/2h, 130/3h, 160/4h. No delivery, but you will be in Varenna anyway. Contact is Moreno Percivale (Tel. 0039-347-3674624) Hope this helps. As an aside, Osteria Quatro Passo at via Settembre 20 in Varenna is a very good restaurant. Buon Viaggio!
Kathy, You have GREAT taste!!! The Riva is a fantastic boat. They can be rented from this site, you need to contact them directly. http://www.matteri.com/home.jsp?idrub=13&lang=2 And... if you are near La Spezia, they have a production facility there. I'm jealous!!!
gerri P.S. saw a wonderfully restored "58" in Florida last year
I found this contact on the yougodo.com website for Riva boat charter of a 1954 vitage Riva powerboat on Lake Como, driver provided. I havent contacted them yet. MATTERI ERIO - LEZZENO (CO) - FRAZ. CALVASINO - TEL. +39 031914456 - FAX: +39 031914456 - EMAIL: [email protected] Also, on the boatbooking.com website, they have Riva boat hire on Lake Garda or Lake Maggiore, at 1700 or 1900 Euros per day.
