Rimini ravenna

We are staying in Spoleto and are wondering if it would be worth driving to Rimini and/or Ravenna 3hrs away. Thank you.

How long are you in Umbria?
There is a lot to see in Umbria or also nearby in the Marche or Latium or even Tuscany, why do you need to go so far?

Are you there now? If so, and you need a day at the beach, the sand on the Adriatic side, Rimini, Riccioni, etc. is lovely and the Adriatic is warm. There are night clubs, and fun things to do at night. If you are driving and returning the same day, I do not think it would be worth six hours in the car. Overnight, yes. Rimini is an Italian Tourist Beach destination. If you're going to be there later in the year (winter) I wouldn't do a six hour drive for a beach destination.

In la Marche you can go to San Leo or San Marino. Both fun towns. Beautiful scenery, very touristy -- mostly Italian tourists. Few Americans and very little English spoken. At least last time I was there.

Ravenna has several churches with beautiful mosaics, and it's a very nice place for an overnight. It has a beach a few kilometers away but I haven't been to it so I don't know how scenic it is.

Thank you for all your a answers. No we are not going til Oct 1 but are not interested in beaches really. I think it will be too mich driving and we know there are lovely things to do. We do plan on spending a night in Siena which we love.

Pippa, I mentioned the beach because that is a major attraction around Rimini (which has some things to offer other than that). I'm not a beach person (years of living on South Beach cured me of any desire for sand in my hair). Anyway, I think Ravenna is a great choice. Since you'll have a car, Montefalco or Gubbio might be of interest. I'm partial to Todi lately.

I agree with the posters on this thread. If you can spend a night out there, it will help break things up quite a bit.
