Has long been a popular beach destination for British families on their annual vacation. However was/is very much an "Italian" resort which has since reinvented itself and now attracts a younger crowd.
Not been myself as not a beach person but know people who have been more or less every year because it is child friendly and British tour operators offered a range of package holidays to the resort.

I found it to be a bit overrated. Full of just ok beaches, hotels everywhere you look, and Italian young people looking for summer romance. Maybe others had a better experience (or were actually in the market for any of the above :)
